New Contest Winning Poem: Pupil

I’m pleased to announce that my poem, “Pupil”, is one of the winners of the Indigo Rising Magazine Surrealist/Minimalist Poetry Contest. All of the winning poems can be read by clicking here. Ironically, only half of the poem won, instead of the entire poem (an email formatting issue…maybe). So if you want to see the poem the way the editors saw it, click on the above link. Below is the poem in its entirety:

Pupil
by Joel E. Jacobson

a light
tourniquet loosened

little black holes
in light
large bowls
of night

a drop of wine
dilates

~

a student
will say
“I see!”

a flash-
bulb epiphany

constricts
